OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES

 

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS CONTEST.

 

A purchase will not improve chances of winning.

OPEN ONLY TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE 50 UNITED STATES  AND DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA (EXCEPT MAINE) WHO ARE AT LEAST 15 AND NOT MORE THAN 21 YEARS OLD AS OF THE DATE OF ENTRY

 

By entering this Promotion, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these Official Rules.  Any violation of these rules may result in disqualification.  All decisions of the judges regarding this Promotion are final and binding in all respects.

 

1. PROMOTION PERIOD.  Promotion begins at 12:01 AM ET on 2/1/2010 and ends at 11:59 PM ET on 3/23/2010 when all entries must be received (“Promotion Period”).

 

2. ELIGIBILITY.  This contest is only open to legal residents of the 50 United States (except Maine) and District of Columbia who are between the ages of 15 and 21 years old as of the date of entry. Officers, directors, members, and employees of the Sponsor, the judging organization, or any other party associated with the development or administration of this Promotion, and the immediate family (i.e., parents, children, siblings, spouse), and persons residing in the same household, as such individuals are not eligible to enter or win.  This Promotion is void in Maine, outside the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, and where prohibited.

 

3.  HOW TO ENTER.  There are two ways to enter: 

 

A) Attend a “Be the Next L.e.i. Model Citizen Entry Event” in association with Teen Vogue at designated locations, fill out an entry form, enter a private video confessionals and tape a video not to exceed two (2) minutes in length in which you demonstrate how you exemplify the characteristics that L.e.i stands for: Life, Energy and Intelligence. More specifically, your video must depict Life through your beauty, health, individuality, and social consciousness; Energy: by your enthusiasm, spirit, and an engaging personality; and Intelligence: through your creativity, uniqueness and ambition.  Only the first three hundred entrants at each Entry Event may create a videotape. 

 

If you are 18 years or older at the time the video is created, and sign an onsite release, your video may be posted on  HYPERLINK "http://www.leimodelcitizen.com" www.leimodelcitizen.com.  If you are under the age of 18 at the time your video is created, you must have your parent(s) or guardian sign a release onsite agreeing to the posting of your video on  HYPERLINK "http://www.leimodelcitizen.com" www.leimodelcitizen.com.

 

Locations and dates of Entry Events are as follows:

UCLA, Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 from 11 – 2 PM ET. 

Florida International Univeristy, Miami Florida on Monday, March 1, 2010 from 11-2 PM ET

The Haute Spot store in The Westchester Mall, White Plains, New York, on Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 12-3 PM ET

 

B) ENTERING WITHOUT ATTENDING AN ENTRY EVENT.  To enter without attending an Entry Event, log on to www.leimodelcitizen.com during the Promotion Period and follow the instructions to complete and submit the entry form and video Submission.  You must create and submit a video under two (2) minutes in length, according to the directions posted on the site, that demonstrates L.e.i. characteristics as described above.  

 

Your Submission must be your original work and you must certify that it has not been copied from others, and that it does not violate the rights of any other person or entity.  Your Submission may not contain any copyrighted material, unless the material is owned by you.   You also must certify that you have obtained releases from any other person(s) appearing in the Submission.  Submissions must not contain any defamatory, obscene or otherwise unlawful matter or depict any illegal, immoral or lewd act, any violent or pornographic material or any other inappropriate content such as illegal drug use, nudity or hate speech and will not reflect adversely on Sponsor.  Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any Submission it deems inappropriate or offensive.  

 

Limit: One entry per person and per e-mail address during the Promotion Period.  All entrant information, including e-mail addresses, is subject to the respective Privacy Policy of the Sponsor.

 

4. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION. All entries will be judged on or about 4/6/2010 as follows.  First a panel of Evaluators, which shall include persons from TEEN Vogue, will score entries based on how entrants demonstrate that they exemplify Life, Energy, and Intelligence by the following criteria:  Life: individuality (30%), Energy: enthusiasm & spirit (30%), and Intelligence: creativity & uniqueness (40%) of the video submission. The Evaluators’ panel will select the top ten (10) entries based on those criteria.  After the top ten (10) entries have been selected, members of the public may visit  HYPERLINK "http://www.leimodelcitizen.com" www.leimodelcitizen.com (“Contest Website”) to view the top ten entries between March 25, 2010 until April 6, 2010 and to vote for their favorite by following the instructions on the Contest Website.  Teen Vogue shall tally the public’s online choices.  The Judges will then select a winner, taking into account both the opinion of the Evaluators’ panel and the number of votes each entrant received on the Contest Website at the Judges’ complete discretion. Final vote tallies shall not be made available to the public.  Decisions of the Judges are final.  All potential winners will be notified by mail, email and/or telephoneIf a potential winner cannot be contacted or does not respond within five (5) days from the date the Sponsor first tries to notify him/her, or the prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, such potential winner will forfeit all rights to win the Promotion or receive a prize, and an alternate potential winner will be selected.  Upon contacting a potential winner and determining that he/she has met all eligibility requirements of the Promotion, including without limitation the execution of required waivers, publicity and liability releases and disclaimers, such individual will be declared a “winner” of the Promotion.

 

5. PRIZE DESCRIPTION.  There will be one (1) Grand Prize winner, one (1) Second Prize winner and one (1) Third Prize winner.

 

The Grand Prize winner will receive the following prize: His or her photo(s) will be featured in L.e.i.’s Fall 2010 advertising campaign, in a minimum of one page in one publication; a $100,000 scholarship which will be awarded (in the form of a check) to be used by the winner for educational expenses only, a tour of TEEN VOGUE headquarters, lunch with Teen Vogue staffers, a one-week unpaid Teen Vogue internship, a visit to the TEEN VOGUE fashion closet, head-to-toe makeover by a TEEN VOGUE stylist, L.e.i., and a beauty services provider selected by Sponsor, and an all-expenses-paid trip for two (2) to attend the TEEN VOGUE Young Hollywood Party in Los Angeles (to be held September, 2010) and walk the red carpet 

 

The Grand Prize package includes two (2) trips for two to New York and one (1) trip for two to Los Angeles.  Each of these trips consists solely of two (2) coach airfare tickets from the major commercial airport nearest winner's primary residence in the US to respectively, New York City, to visit to Teen Vogue headquarters and attend the Teen Vogue internship; and to Los Angeles for the Young Hollywood Party.  At each of the three (3) destinations, Sponsor will provide one (1) standard hotel room (double occupancy) for two (2) nights (except that for the internship, hotel room shall be provided for the duration of the week) at hotels selected by Sponsor.  The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $115,000 depending on exact itinerary.  Actual value may vary based on fluctuations in price for airfare and/or accommodations, and distance between departure and destination cities.  Ground transportation, meals, in-room or other personal charges at hotels (e.g., mini-bar, movies), telephone calls, gratuities, incidentals, and all other expenses are not included.  Winner and travel companion must be available to travel on the same itinerary.  Trips must be booked by September 1, 2010 and completed by the conclusion of each of the events, and may be subject to certain other restrictions, including without limitation blackout dates.  Sponsor will attempt to accommodate winner's preferred itinerary, but all specifics thereof will be at Sponsor's sole discretion.  If, in the sole judgment of Sponsor, air travel is not required due to winner’s proximity to prize location, ground transportation may be substituted for roundtrip air travel with no additional compensation to winner.  Unless the child of winner, travel companion must be 21years of age or older as of the date of departure.  Travel must be booked to coincide with the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party or that portion of the prize will be forfeited.

 

 

The Second Prize winner will receive the opportunity to appear in L.e.i.’s fall 2010 advertising, in at a minimum of one page in one publication; and receive admission to Teen Vogue’s Fashion University, to be held in New York City in October, 2010,(exact date to be determined by Sponsor), which will include the following: attendance at Editor’s Seminar, opportunity to meet with Amy Astley and Teen Vogue Editors, have his/her picture taken with Editors in front of step & repeat sign, a signed copy of The Teen Vogue Handbook: An Insider’s Guide to Careers in Fashion, and a tour of the Teen Vogue offices and editor’s closet; the Second Prize trip consists solely of two (2) coach airfare tickets for the winner and a guest from the major commercial airport nearest winner's primary residence in the US to New York City and one (1) standard hotel room (double occupancy) for two (2) nights at a hotel selected by Sponsor. The approximate retail value of the prize is $5,000 depending on exact itinerary.  Actual value may vary based on fluctuations in price for airfare and/or accommodations, and distance between departure and destination.  Ground transportation, meals, in-room or other personal charges at hotel (e.g., mini-bar, movies), telephone calls, gratuities, incidentals, and all other expenses are not included.  Winner and travel companion must be available to travel on the same itinerary.  Trip must be booked by September 1, 2010 and completed by the conclusion of the event, and may be subject to certain other restrictions, including without limitation blackout dates.  Sponsor will attempt to accommodate winner's preferred itinerary, but all specifics thereof will be at Sponsor's sole discretion.  If, in the sole judgment of Sponsor, air travel is not required due to winner’s proximity to prize location, ground transportation may be substituted for roundtrip air travel.  Unless child of winner, travel companion must be at least 21 years of age or older as of the date of departure.  Travel must be booked to coincide with Teen Vogue’s Fashion University or that portion of the prize will be forfeited.

 

 

The third prize winner will receive the opportunity to appear in L.e.i.’s fall 2010 advertising, in at a minimum of one page in one publication, and receive one (1) ticket to attend Fashion’s Night Out, to be held in New York City on September  10, 2010 which will include the following: back-stage pass to Fashion’s Night Out runway show, the opportunity to see how a Fashion show runs behind-the-scenes and meet the TEEN VOGUE editors, a tour of the Teen Vogue offices, lunch in the Condé Nast Cafeteria with a Teen Vogue staffer and a Fashion’s Night Out T-shirt.  The Third Prize trip consists solely of two (2) coach airfare tickets for winner and a guest from the major commercial airport nearest winner's primary residence in the US to New York City and one (1) standard hotel room (double occupancy) for two (2) nights at a hotel selected by Sponsor.  The approximate retail value of the prize is $2,500, depending on exact itinerary.  Actual value may vary based on fluctuations in price for airfare and/or accommodations, and distance between departure and destination.  Ground transportation, meals, in-room or other personal charges at hotel (e.g., mini-bar, movies), telephone calls, gratuities, incidentals, and all other expenses are not included.  Winner and travel companion must be available to travel on the same itinerary.  Trip must be booked by September 1st, 2010 and  completed by the conclusion of the event, and may be subject to certain other restrictions, including without limitation blackout dates.  Sponsor will attempt to accommodate winner's preferred itinerary, but all specifics thereof will be at Sponsor's sole discretion.  If, in the sole judgment of Sponsor, air travel is not required due to winner’s proximity to prize location, ground transportation may be substituted for roundtrip air travel.  Unless child of winner, travel companion must be 21 years of age or older as of the date of departure.  Travel must be booked to coincide with the Fashion’s Night Out event or that portion of the prize will be forfeited.

 

 

6. TAXES.  All federal, state and/or local income and other taxes, are the winner’s sole responsibility.

 

7. OWNERSHIP AND LICENSE.  All entry submissions become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.  The copyright in any Submission shall remain the property of the entrant, but entry in this Contest constitutes entrant’s irrevocable and perpetual permission and consent, without further compensation or attribution, for Sponsor or others authorized by Sponsor to use, reproduce, print, publish, transmit, distribute, sell, perform, adapt, enhance, or display such Submission for any purpose, including but not limited to editorial, advertising, trade, commercial, and publicity purposes  in any and all media now in existence or hereinafter created, throughout the world, for the duration of the copyright in the Submission.  Sponsor and/or others authorized by the Sponsor shall have the right to edit, adapt, and modify the Submission in their sole discretion.

 

8. NO PRIZE TRANSFER OR SUBSTITUTION.  No prize or any portion thereof is transferable or redeemable for cash.  Any portion of the prize that is not used is forfeited.  No substitutions for prize except by Sponsor, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be substituted.

 

9. CONSENT AND RELEASE.  By entering the Promotion, each entrant releases and discharges the Sponsor, Panel of Evaluators/Judges, and any other party associated with the development or administration of this Promotion, their parent, subsidiary, and affiliated entities, and each of their respective officers, directors, members, shareholders, employees, independent contractors, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, “Sponsor Entities”), from any and all liability whatsoever in connection with this Promotion, including without limitation legal claims, costs, injuries, losses or damages, demands or actions of any kind (including without limitation personal injuries, death, damage to, loss or destruction or property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation, or portrayal in a false light).  Except where prohibited: (i) acceptance of a prize constitutes the consent of any winner, without further compensation, to use the name and likeness of such winner and his/her Submission for editorial, advertising and publicity purposes by the Sponsor and/or others authorized by the Sponsor; (ii) acceptance of a prize constitutes a release by any winner of the Sponsor Entities of any and all Claims in connection with the administration of this Promotion and the use, misuse, or possession of his/her Submission or any prize; (iii) all potential winners will be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility (including social security number) and a liability/publicity/copyright release; and (iv)  any potential winner and travel companion (if applicable) may be required to execute releases of the Sponsor from any and all liability with respect to participation in travel or activities or use of the prize.  Affidavits and releases must be returned within ten (10) days from the date that Sponsor notifies the potential winner.  If winner is deemed to be a minor under the jurisdiction of his/her residence, the prize will be awarded in the name of his/her parent or legal guardian who must execute the necessary affidavit and release and, if applicable, must accompany winner on the trip (no additional travel expenses will be awarded should a parent or legal guardian be required to accompany the winner on the trip).

 

10. DISCLAIMERS.  (i) Entries that are lost, late, misdirected, incorrect, garbled, or incompletely received, for any reason, including by reason of hardware, software, browser, or network failure, malfunction, congestion, or incompatibility at Sponsor’s servers or elsewhere, will not be eligible.  In the event of a dispute, entries will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry.  “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet Access Provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institute) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.  (ii) Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process or the operation of the web site.  Use of bots or other automated process to enter is prohibited and may result in disqualification at the sole discretion of Sponsor.  (iii) Sponsor further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the Promotion if it is not capable of completion as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, force majeure or technical failures of any sort.  (iv) Sponsor Entities are not responsible for errors in the administration or fulfillment of this Promotion, including without limitation mechanical, human, printing, distribution or production errors, and may modify or cancel this Promotion based upon such error at its sole discretion without liability.  (v) SPONSOR ENTITIES MAKE NO WARRANTIES, REPRESENTATIONS OR GUARANTEES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, IN FACT OR IN LAW, AS REGARDS THIS CONTEST OR THE MERCHANTABILITY, QUALITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE REGARDING ANY PRIZE OR ANY COMPONENT OF ANY PRIZE.  (vi) CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS PROMOTION MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND/OR CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ATTORNEYS’ FEES) FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.

 

11. APPLICABLE LAWS AND JURISDICTION.  This Promotion is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.  Issues concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules shall be governed by the laws of the State of New York.  All disputes arising out of or connected with this Promotion will be resolved individually, and without resort to class action, exclusively by a state or federal court located in New York, New York.  Should there be a conflict between the laws of the State of New York and any other laws, the conflict will be resolved in favor of the laws of the State of New York.  All judgments or awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket damages (excluding attorneys’ fees) associated with participation in this Promotion and shall not include any indirect, punitive, incidental and/or consequential damages.

14. VOID in Maine and where prohibited or restricted by law.
